Bella Cucina Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Walnuts in Death by Chocolate Cookies
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE — Atlanta, GA — August 27, 2007 — Bella Cucina of Atlanta, Georgia is recalling units of Death by Chocolate cookies if your bag does not correctly state that the product contains walnuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to Walnuts run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
My odd sense of humor does this …
- A cookie named “Death by Chocolate” is recalled because it is not the chocolate that can kill you but the walnuts that are not on the label. In other words, it is false advertising.
- A cookie named “Death by Chocolate” is recalled because you really might die when you eat it. How ironic is that?
Having said that, food allergies need to be taken very seriously. If an ingredient is not on the label, death is one of the possible consequences. Food safety is critical.
